Erectile dysfunction exercises are the first thing you'll think of when problems with sexual function arise. Pelvic floor exercises will be an important part of your treatment programme, to be able to have a good erection again, after times of problems in the bedroom. This will also be true if you suffer from incontinence. In both cases we will help you with the following 3 steps
- Examination, interview and ultrasound scan by specialist to ensure you have the necessary control over the pelvic floor.
- Pelvic floor training and physical activity

We want to help you on your way in the clinic with your training, as we find that many men have lost control of their pelvic floor. So it can be important to activate the right muscles in the first place. That way you don't start off on weeks of "useless" training that doesn't give you the results you want. To make sure you are activating the right muscles, we ultrasound scan you while we do a series of tests to see if/when you are doing it right.
- When you exercise your pelvic floor, you need to learn how to 'pinch' your muscles so that your pelvic floor tightens up. A pelvic floor pinch can be recognised by the penis root tilting and the rectal opening constricting, like holding a fart.
- When you pinch, it is usually best felt around the rectum, as the muscles are fullest here. As part of the pelvic floor muscles, there is also a ring muscle around the opening of the rectum, which helps to close the outside of the opening.
- When you pinch, the pelvic floor lifts slightly, pulling the urethra and rectum forward towards the pubic bone. It is this movement that causes the urethra and rectum to "kink" shut.
When you do your erection exercises, your pinch, it's important that a pinch feels like a lift, a contraction or closure, just like when you're trying to hold your urine, have an ejaculation, a bowel movement or a fart. It shouldn't feel like you're pushing down, like when you have to defecate.
There are 3 quick ways to test if you're pinching correctly.
- Try to stop the urine stream when you urinate. This is easiest at the end of urination, when the pressure is not so great.
- Lie on your back with your legs bent on the floor. Place a couple of your fingers on your crotch between your testicles and your rectum. Press your fingers lightly upwards and pinch. If the area becomes hard, pinch properly.
- Lie on your side with your legs bent. Place your little finger inside your rectum as if it were a thermometer. Pinch and feel at the edge of a ring that laces all the way around your finger. A little deeper you will feel a loop pushing the finger forward towards the pubic bone. Release the pinch and feel the muscles relax and soften again.
Squeeze around the rectal opening as if you were holding a fart. You will probably also feel the pinch at the front of the penis root. When pinching, don't tense your stomach, buttocks or thighs, nor should you hold your breath. This is where most people make the exercise mistake
- Lie on your back with your knees slightly apart.
- Squeeze quickly and forcefully and release the pinch. Repeat 10-20 times. Each pinch should be short and strong.
- Now squeeze moderately, hold for 5-10 seconds and release. The pause between the pinches should be at least as long as the pinch, so that the muscles do not fatigue too quickly. Repeat 10-20 times.
- Try to hold a moderate pinch for up to 1 minute, or as long as you can, starting slowly and building up
- Make the last 5-10 strong pinches. Squeeze as hard as you can and release slowly (about 3 seconds). Remember to pause between pinches.
Using shockwave creates new small blood vessels in the penis and stimulates the nerves, muscles and blood vessels of the diaphragm, giving you a stronger and better erection again. Completely without the unpleasant side effects seen with other treatments or pills.
A standard course of treatment consists of 6 or 12 sessions, with 85% of our clients experiencing a better and more powerful erection. For some, a higher number of treatments may be necessary. The number is based on the severity of your ED problem, your medication intake and your lifestyle. We clarify what the triggers are for you the first time you come to the clinic for an examination.
A single treatment with shockwave in combination with EMTT costs 1000 DKK. As the only ones in Denmark we work with the combination of Shockwave and EMTT, where we see a higher effect than shockwave alone. We are currently the only ones in Denmark to offer this effective form of treatment.
The treatment and assessment of your erection problem is carried out by one of Denmark's leading experts in urological shockwave treatment, Michael Strøm, who is also a member of The International Society for Sexual Medicine.
